Movilidad 3: Pilgrims Lengua Avanzada

The training course Teaching Advanced Students was held between July 7-20, 2019 at the University of Kent (Canterbury) by Pilgrims. It was a real brainstorm to freshen up the teaching and methodology of advanced students. In addition to updating dynamics to encourage motivation, participation and collaborative learning, we deepened on the use of the so called Lexical Approach, the use of collocations and chunks, highly important at higher levels of learning. We focused on sensory learning (VAKOG), the use of art, and had a hands-on approach to Spoken versus written Grammar. Apart from that we analysed other areas of teaching languages such as the basic elements of Blended Learning, the teaching of languages as soft CLIL, We examined the potential of the recently added skill of Mediation, and the importance of student-generated activities at advanced level. In addition, the mobility was also an extensive update of teaching literature and the encounter with personalities in the field of didactics from the Pilgrims professional team, such as Mario Rinvolucri, the teacher of the course Hania Kryszewska, editor of HLT (Humanizing Language Teaching), Alan Maley, Chaz Pugliese and numerous colleagues in language teaching worldwide.
